Unpacking the GFP-815

Before your new ADCOM preamplifier left our factory, it was carefully in spectedforphysicalimperfections andtestedforallelectricalparame tersasaroutinepartofADCOM’ssys tematicqualitycontrol.This,along withfulloperationalandmechanical testing,shouldensureaproductflaw lessinbothappearanceandperfor mance.Afteryouhaveunpackedthe GTP815,inspectitforphysicaldam age.Savetheshippingcartonandall packingmaterialastheyareintended toreducethepossibilityoftranspor tationdamageshouldthepreamplifier everneedtobeshippedagain.

Intheunlikelyeventdamagehasoc curred,notifyyourdealerimmediate lyandrequestthenameofthecarrier soawrittenclaimtocovershipping damagescanbeinitiated.Therightto aclaimagainstapubliccarriercanbe forfeitedifthecarrierisnotnotified promptlyinwritingandiftheshipping cartonandpackingmaterialsarenot availableforinspectionbythecarrier. Saveallpackingmaterialsuntilthe claimhasbeensettled.

Placing the GFP-815

AlthoughtheGFP815doesnotgen

eratemuchheat,itisgoodpracticeto

ensuretheamplifier’slongterm, troublefreeoperationtoprovidead equateventilationfortheunit.There fore,theGFP815shouldbekept awayfromexternalsourcesofheat

suchasradiatorsandhotairducts. Werecommendthatyouexercisecare

whenplacingcomponentsontopof theGFP815.Ifyouareplacingaheat producingcomponent(suchasanam plifier)ontopoforbelowtheGFP 815,itisrecommendedthatyouallow atleast3inchesverticalspacingfor properairflow.

Ifyoursystemincludestheuseofthe phonoinput,youmayfindthatpla cingcomponentsaboveorunderthe GFP815mayinducehum,causedby theproximityoftheirpowertrans formertothephonocablesorinput jacks.Ifthisshouldoccur,movingthe componentswillusuallyhelpreduce thehum.

Ifyouobservetheserecommendations theGFP815willperformreliablyin anyreasonableenvironment.

Youshouldalsopayattentiontosuch normalconsiderationsasprotection fromexcessivedustandmoisture.

Dustonthesurfaceofthecabinetcan beeasilyandsafelyremovedwitha dustersuchasmadebySwiffer™.Fin gerprintscanberemovedwithasoft clothdampenedwithamildnon ammoniacleaner.

Theoptimalperformanceofyournew GFP 815willultimatelydependonthe carewithwhichyoumaketheconnec tionsbetweentheamplifier,pream plifierandloudspeakers.Allin putand outputsignalconnectionsshouldbe madeonlywithhighquality,lowloss, lowcapacitancecables.Forrecom mendationsofthetypeandqualityof interconnectionsthatarebestfor yourapplications,consultwithyour ADCOMretailer.

Safety Information

Therearenouserserviceableparts inside.Referallservicingtoqualified servicepersonnel. Theunitmustbeconnectedtoapow ersupplyonlyofthetypeandvoltage specifiedontherearpanel.Connect thecomponenttothepoweroutlet onlywiththesuppliedpowersupply cableoranexactequivalent.Donot modifythesuppliedcable.Donotde featgroundingand/orpolarization provisions.Thecableshouldbecon nectedtoa3pinpolarizedwallout let,matchingthewidebladeofthe plugtothewideslotoftherecepta cle.Donotuseextensioncords.Do notroutethepowercordwhereitwill becrushed,pinched,bent,exposedto heat,ordamagedinanyway.Pay particularattentiontothepowercord attheplugandwhereitexitsthe backoftheunit.Thepowercord shouldbeunpluggedfromthewall outletiftheunitistobeleftunused foralongperiodoftime.Immediately stopusingthecomponentandhaveit inspectedand/orservicedbyaquali fiedserviceagencyif:
