About COMMERCIAL ADVANCE®

COMMERCIAL ADVANCE® is a feature in video recorders that automatically skips or scans most com- mercial messages during replay of a recorded televi- sion broadcast.

Under controlled test conditions with major network daytime and prime time broadcasts, almost all intra- program commercials are eliminated. Actual results may vary and will depend upon the quality of television reception and the nature of the program recorded. This feature records entire broadcasts including com- mercials. When these recordings are played back, the portions of the recording previously identified as con- taining commercials can be automatically skipped or scanned. Initiation of skipping or scanning can be per- formed either automatically by this product or manually by the viewer.

Notes:

This function will not operate normally in the following cases:

COMMERCIAL ADVANCE® is designed to not iden- tify commercials within recordings which are less than 15 minutes.

When the signal input to the antenna for the recorder is weak, and thus noise appears.

Setting COMMERCIAL ADVANCE®

The COMMERCIAL ADVANCE® options have been set to ON at the factory. When you first unpack this recorder, COMMERCIAL ADVANCE® feature is avail- able to use by manufacture. However, you may wish to alter the factory COMMERCIAL ADVANCE® settings. There are two selections in OSD menu: CA RECORD and CA PLAYBACK.

Commercials that can be skipped or scanned by COMMERCIAL ADVANCE®:

COMMERCIAL ADVANCE® detects the portion of mul- tiple commercials that last 55 seconds or longer as a commercial portion, and skips it.

You can use COMMERCIAL ADVANCE® only with programs recorded with CA RECORD set to “ON”: Make sure before recording that CA RECORD is set to “ON”.
