Gleaning Procedure

Removethe cassette holder cover. Use cotton{ipped sticks or the like (availablein audiostores,etc.)to carefullyand with very light pressureclean the parts indicatedin white on the illustration.In cases of severe contamination,dip the cottontip in cleaning fluid.Cleaningis facilitatedif - after removingthe cassetteholdercover - the cover is closed again and the pauseswitch depressed,thereby raisingthe head

---embly.

bpressureroller is very dirty,press the lry switch and clean the rollerwhile it is turning.At this time,be carefulthat the cottontip does not get caughtbetweenthe rollerand the capstan.After cleaningthe roller,put the deck into the pausemode again and clean the revolvingcapstan.

Demagnetizing

After a longerperiodof use,there can be a build-upof residualmagnetismin headsand capstan,etc. Such residualmagnetismcan inducenoiseand impairthe highfrequencies during playback.To preventthis, you should demagnetizethese parts about once every

50hours of use with the optionalNakamichi DM-10 Demagnetizeror anotherproperly designeddemagnetizerFor. detailson the demagnetizingprocedure,pleaseconsultthe demagnetizer'sinstructionmanual.

. Always switch off the power to the deck beforestartingthe demagnetizing orocedure.

Gleaning the Faceplate

This unit shouldbe cleanedonly by wipingit with a soft,dry cloth.Neveruse alcohol, solvents,ammoniaor abrasivecleaning agents.

Lubrication

All importantmovingparts of this deck are fitted with long-life,oil-lessbearings.Periodic lubricationis thereforenot necessarv.
