If the screen displays the “Correct Signal Found”message, do not clear the screen. Continue with fine-tuning the signal.

Overview of Fine-Tuning (or Peaking) the Signal

You should have the assistance of a second person to monitor the television screen while you complete the adjustments to the satellite dish in this section.

While your assistant watches the signal number on the Tune in Satellite Signal menu (see previous section, “Acquiring a Signal”), you will make fine- tuning adjustments to the LNBF, the elevation, and the compass setting.

In addition to using the Signal reading, which appears on the Tune in Satellite Signal menu on your TV screen, you may wish to use an external signal level meter to verify the signal strength while you make fine-tuning adjustments for the LNBF, elevation, and compass direction setting. As mentioned earlier, do not try to determine the strength of the signal by judging the clarity of the picture on the TV. Digital reception cannot be adjusted in this manner.

NOTE: As the signal grows stronger, the bar graph for signal strength will become longer and its color will change from red to green. Also, a beeping tone will change into a monotone.
