Before you start

Turn on your TV and set it to the video channel

Check that the VCR clock is set to the correct time and date.

1Insert a SmartFile tape with its safety tab in place. The SmartFile indicator lights up.

2 Press SMARTFILE.

The SmartFile search list appears on the TV screen.

3 Use CURSOR M to select BLANKTIME and press OK. The VCR starts searching for the longest blank part of the tape. The SmartFile search list disappears.

You can now start recording a programme.

Tip

You can protect a recorded programme from accidental over-recording or erasure (see page 100).

Note

If you press the PAUSE button one or more times during recording, thereby creating short lengths of recorded time between such pauses, programme data may not be stored in the SmartFile label.
