SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION

POWER

1.No power is applied to the VCR.

2.The Remote Control won’t function.

•The mains power cord is disconnected.

•The batteries are discharged.

Connect the mains power cord.

Replace the dead batteries with new ones.

TAPE TRANSPORT

1.The tape does not run during recording. RECP appears on the TV screen (only when OSD is set to ON).

•The VCR is in the RECORD PAUSE MODE.

Press to resume recording.

2.The tape will not rewind or fast- forward.

• The tape is already fully	Check the cassette.
rewound or fast-forwarded.

PLAYBACK

1.The playback picture does not appear while the tape is running.

2.Noise appears during visual search.

3.Noise appears during normal playback.

4.The playback picture is blurred or interrupted while TV broad- casts are clear.

5.Breaks are noticeable in Hi-Fi soundtrack.

•If you’re using only the RF cable for connection…

…the TV’s channel selector is not set to the Video Channel. …the VCR’s Video Channel has not been correctly set.

•If you’re using both the RF cable and 21-pin SCART cable for connection, the TV is not set to the AV mode.

•This is normal.

•The automatic tracking mode is engaged.

•The video heads may be dirty.

•Automatic tracking is engaged.

If you are using only the RF cable for connection…

…set the TV to the Video Channel. …Perform Video Channel Set. (☞ pg. 14)

If you are using both the RF cable and 21-pin SCART cable for connection, set the TV to its AV mode.

Try manual tracking. (☞ pg. 38)

Use a dry cleaning cassette JVC TCL-2 or consult your JVC dealer.
