RDV-1045DVD Player

Power source

Power does not come on.

•The power cord of the RDV-1045 is not connected to an AC outlet.

Connect the power cord correctly.

Operation

Controls and button do not work.

•Some speciﬁc operations may be restricted for some discs.

The remote control does not work.

•The batteries have run out. Replace the batteries.

A disc cannot be played back.

• In the case of DVD Videos.

Check the Region Code number of the disc.

•“PLAYABLE Err” is displayed in the display window.

The disc cannot be played back on this DVD player. Check the disc type. See the “Playable Discs” and “Unplayable Discs” sections of this manual.

MP3, WMA, JPEG, ASF, MPEG1 or MPEG2 ﬁles cannot be played back.

•The loaded disc may include ﬁles of different types (MP3, WMA, JPEG, ASF, MPEG1 or MPEG2). You can play back only the ﬁles of the types selected with “FILE TYPE”. See the “Preference Setup/Picture” section of this manual.

Images

No picture appears.

•The composite video cord is not connected correctly.

See the “Audio/Video Connections” section of this manual.

•An S-video cord and a component video cord are connected at the same time.

Disconnect one of the cords.

The picture is distorted.

•A video cassette recorder is connected between the DVD player and the TV.

Connect the DVD player directly to the TV.

The screen size is abnormal.

• The screen size is not set correctly.

Select the correct “Monitor Type” for the TV you are using. See the “Preference Setup/Picture” section of this manual.

The TV screen darkens.

•“SCREEN SAVER” is set to “ON”. Press any button.

Other

You cannot switch audio or subtitles between languages.

•The disc does not contain multiple lan- guages.

If only a single language is recorded on the disc, you cannot switch the current language to another language.

No subtitle is displayed.

• The disc does not contain any subtitles.

A DVD Video without subtitles cannot display any subtitles.

•The subtitle language is set to “OFF”. Specify a subtitle language. See the “Preference Setup/Language” section of this manual.

•Before or after point A or B in A-B repeat playback, no subtitle may be displayed.

“LR ONLY” is displayed in the dis- play window (for a DVD AUDIO).

•This is not a malfunction. When a down mix prohibited track is played back for multichannel sound, the left and right sounds are output directly as they are.

If Problems Persist

Many functions of the RDV-1045 are controlled by microprocessors that can be affected by things like power surges. You can “reset” the microprocessors by cycling the power supply. If the unit seems “frozen” and does not respond to buttons being pressed, disconnect the power cord from the outlet, wait for a while, and con- nect the power cord again.s
