NEW MODEL INFORMATION

5-Disc DVD Carousel Changer

5-Disc Carousel DVD-Video Changer with AL24, HDCD decoding, and 96/24 playback

The DENON DVD-5000 DVD player sets the standard for the ultimate in audio and video performance. Featuring many of the same technologies, the DVM-3700 provides carousel changer convenience along with a host of high performance features, to bring superb video and audio performance to a wider audience. The heart of the DVM-3700 is the 5-disc DVD changer mechanism, designed for ease-of-use and convenience. Video playback quality is assured via the use of full 10 bit video D/A conversion, along with a complete set of video outputs, including composite, “S”, and component (Y, CB, CR) video outputs for connection to high performance video displays. Audio quality is superb, thanks to Denon’s exclusive AL24 processing, along with HDCD decoding for the thou-sands of HDCD-encoded music CDs. Full 24-bit, 96 kHz D/A conversion provides the ultimate audio resolution with 96/24 DVDs.

Newly Designed 5 Disc Carousel Mechanism Featuring a new Denon designed 5 disc carousel mecha-

nism, the DVM-3700 allows up to four discs to be exchanged while the fifth disc is playing, for maximum ease of use and convenience.

Newly-developed AL24 Processing

AL24 Processing has inherited the technology of the origi- nal ALPHA Processing that was used in DENON's highly- successful S1 series of reference-class audio components. AL24 Processing further reduces quantization distortion and represents the ultimate analog waveform reproduction tech- nology designed to support the higher numbers of bits and higher sampling rate of next-generation media. AL24 Processing senses the nature of the digital data being input and interpolates the data so that it faithfully replicates the original analog waveform. AL24 Processing supports not only 16-bit digital data but also 18-, 20- and 24-bit data, as well as input data with a sampling frequency of up to 96 kHz.

Multiple 24-bit, 96-kHz D/A Converter

The DVM-3700 uses a 2-DAC 24-bit, 96-kHz Sampling D/A

Converter system in order to D/A convert high-quality 24-bit data obtained from AL24 Processing with utmost fidelity. This design achieves a signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio of 118 dB and a dynamic range of 108 dB, to bring out the beautiful sound of high-bit, high-sampling technology.

HDCD Decoder

HDCD technology represents encodig and decoding that drastically reduces digital recording distortion while retaining compatibility with the existing CD format. HDCD uses Peak Extension and Low-level Extension technology to convert 24-bit data to the 16-bit data format of existing CDs without sacrificing the high quality of 24-bit sound. This technology prevents the sound from becoming distorted during peak periods, and boosts the low-level signals to improve the S/N ratio for a substantially richer dynamic range.

Since the DVM-3700 is equipped with an HDCD decoder, the Peak Extension and Low-level Extension features are accessed and combined with DENON's own 96kHz, 24-bit 2-DAC system to fulfill the maximum potential of HDCD’s remarkable sound quality. The DVM-3700 also automatically senses the type of disc that has been loaded (ordinary CD, a DVD disc, or HDCD), then processes the signals based on the type of disc detected.

High-speed, Precision 10-bit, 27-MHz Video D/A Converter The highly accurate video decoder processes the DVD

video data (the component luminance and color difference sig- nals). In order to output this high-quality digital signal with its original purity still preserved, the DVM-3700 employs a high- speed, high-precision 10-bit, 27-MHz video D/A converter. This design improves the reproducibility of extremely minute details so that the picture viewed on the screen is completely faithful to the original image in both its colors and high resolution.
