Adjusting the channel settings

Switching between two channels using Channel Return

The Channel Return feature allows you to switch between two channels without entering an actual channel number each time.

1.Select the first channel (or video mode) you want to view.

2.Select a second channel using the Channel Number buttons (0Ð9, 100).

3.Press CH RTN. The previous channel will display.

Each time you press CH RTN, the TV will switch back and forth between the last two channels that were selected.

Switching between two channels using SurfLockª

The SurfLockª feature temporarily ÒmemorizesÓ one channel in the CH RTN button, so you can return to that channel quickly from any other channel by pressing CH RTN.

To memorize a channel in the CH RTN button:

1. Select the channel you want to

program into the CH RTN

button.

2. Press and hold CH RTN for

about 2 seconds until the message

(flashing) on the screen. The

channel has been programmed into the CH RTN button

(SurfLock memory).

3.Continue to change channels.

4.Press CH RTN. The memorized channel will be selected.

The TV will return to the memorized channel one time only. Once you press CH RTN and then change channels again, the SurfLock memory will be cleared and the button will function as Channel Return, by switching back and forth between the last two channels that were selected.

Programming your favorite channels

You can preset up to 7 of your favorite channels each for FAVORITE CH1 and FAVORITE CH2 modes using the Favorite Channel Programming feature. Because this feature scans through only your favorite channels, it allows you to skip other channels you do not normally watch.

To program your favorite channels:

1.Press MENU, and then press x or • until the CUSTOM menu appears.

2.Press y or z to highlight FAVORITE CH1 or FAVORITE CH2.

The Toshiba 30HF83 is a versatile television model that appeals to viewers seeking quality performance and reliable technology in a compact size. Launched during a time when CRT televisions were phasing out, the 30HF83 blends traditional CRT characteristics with innovative features tailored for enhanced viewing experiences.

One of the standout features of the Toshiba 30HF83 is its 30-inch screen, which offers a comfortable viewing size for small to medium rooms. The television utilizes Toshiba's renowned Aqua tuning system that helps set outstanding image clarity and sharpness. The CRT display delivers vibrant colors and deep blacks, ensuring an enjoyable viewing experience whether you are watching a movie or a daily show.

Additionally, the 30HF83 boasts a 16x9 aspect ratio, allowing for a more cinematic viewing experience. This aspect ratio supports both widescreen content and standard programming, providing flexibility for various types of media. The television also comes equipped with multiple input options, including composite, S-video, and RF connectivity. This versatility allows users to connect external devices such as DVD players, gaming consoles, and VCRs, catering to a variety of entertainment preferences.

In terms of sound performance, the Toshiba 30HF83 integrates a built-in audio system designed to complement its visual capabilities. The TV features stereo sound, which enhances the overall viewing experience by delivering clear audio alongside superior video performance.

Weighing in at a significant amount compared to modern flat-screen TVs, the CRT design ensures a sturdy construction but may pose challenges for mounting or moving the television. Its traditional design may appeal to those who prefer the retro aesthetic or those who are fans of CRT technology.

In conclusion, the Toshiba 30HF83 is a notable choice for individuals looking for reliable, solid performance in a CRT television. With a robust feature set that supports various media types, it maintains Toshiba's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
