AXIS Camera Station

AXIS Camera Station Client is for monitoring, recording, playback and event management.

Connect AXIS Camera Station Client

From AXIS NVR Manager select an NVR device and click the Launch AXIS Camera Station Client icon or start AXIS Camera Station Client from your computer and use the NVR’s network address in the logon dialog.

Notes:

If the correct version of AXIS Camera Station Client has not been previously installed on the computer running AXIS NVR Manager, a prompt will appear to perform an installation.

Prior versions of AXIS Camera Station Client and AXIS Camera Station Server need to be removed from the computer before installing this version. Do not continue with the installation if the removal of prior versions is not your intent.

To log onto the NVR enter the administrator user name and password you set up in NVR Manager see Set the password, on page 13.

Configure AXIS Camera Station

For easy navigation AXIS Camera Station is divided into workspaces; Live view, Recordings, Logs and Configuration.

Live view - Provides a single interface to organize and monitor AXIS network cameras and video encoders on your network

Recordings - Search, playback and export recordings from one or many cameras in a desired time interval with timeline visualization

Logs - Alarm, event and audit logs for an instant overview of the system

Configuration - has a collection of all the important links to add cameras, set up recording settings, user permissions, event configuration and more

When AXIS Camera Station is started for the first time it automatically adds Axis cameras and video encoders it finds on your network. If there are more cameras on your network than you have a license for, go to Configuration > Add/Edit Cameras.

Note:

To use the NVR as an NTP server for the added cameras, use the NVR’s IP address.

For more information see the context sensitive help in AXIS Camera Station or the User’s Manual.

Q8108-R specifications

Axis Communications Q8108-R is a robust and versatile network video recorder designed specifically for security professionals looking to enhance surveillance systems across various environments. This model stands out due to its high performance, reliability, and adaptability, enabling users to monitor and manage multiple video streams efficiently.

One of the key features of the Q8108-R is its ability to support up to eight Axis cameras, providing a flexible solution for both small and medium-sized installations. The device can handle high-definition video recordings, up to 12 MP resolution, ensuring clarity and detail in every frame. This capability makes it an ideal choice for environments that require exhaustive surveillance, such as retail outlets, transportation hubs, and critical infrastructure sites.

The Q8108-R also comes with advanced storage solutions. Featuring RAID 0/1 configurations and a 4 TB internal hard drive, it ensures that users have ample storage capacity for their recordings. In cases of hardware failure, the RAID functionality provides added security through redundancy, minimizing the risk of data loss. Furthermore, the recorder supports the integration of external storage, allowing users to expand their capacity as required.

In terms of connectivity, the Axis Q8108-R is equipped with multiple network interfaces, including Power over Ethernet (PoE), which simplifies installation by allowing cameras to receive power and data over a single cable. The device's compatibility with various video standards and its support for Axis' own proprietary technologies such as Zipstream, which minimizes bandwidth and storage use without sacrificing video quality, further enhances its performance.

User management features are also a strong point of the Q8108-R. With a user-friendly interface, it allows operators to set up and manage user access rights efficiently. This is essential for organizations that need to maintain controlled access to sensitive surveillance data.

Moreover, the Q8108-R is designed for challenging environments, boasting an IP66 rating, which means it is protected against dust and water ingress. This ruggedness makes it suitable for outdoor use and in demanding conditions.

In summary, the Axis Communications Q8108-R is an exceptional network video recorder that combines high performance, flexible capacity, and robust security features. Its technological innovations and user-centric design make it a reliable choice for those seeking to enhance their surveillance capabilities in a world increasingly dependent on security and monitoring solutions.
