7 Glossary

A

Antenna

A device, such as a rod or wire, which picks up a received radio frequency signal or radiates a transmitted RF signal.

ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) The Advanced Television Systems Committee, Inc., is an international, non-profit organization developing voluntary standards for digital television. The high definition television standards defined by the ATSC produce wide screen 16:9 images up to 1920x1080 pixels in size -- more than six times the display resolution of the earlier standard. However, many different image sizes are also supported, so that up to six standard-definition “virtual channels” can be broadcast on a single 6 MHz TV channel.

C

Coaxial

A single copper conductor, surrounded with a layer of insulation, covered by a surrounding copper shield and finally, an insulating jacket. An unbalanced transmission line with constant impedance. In audio, this type is commonly used for low level, line signals terminated in RCA connectors.

H

HDTV (High-Definition Television)

It is a digital television broadcasting system with higher resolution than traditional television systems (standard-definition TV, or SDTV). HDTV is digitally broadcast; the earliest implementations used analog broadcasting, but today digital television

(DTV) signals are used, requiring less bandwidth due to digital video compression.

U

UHF (Ultra high frequency)

In radio or TV broadcasting: it is the frequency range of electromagnetic waves which lies between 300 MHz and 3 GHz (3000 MHz).

V

VHF (Very high frequency)

In radio or TV broadcasting: it is the frequency range of electromagnetic waves which lies between 30 MHz and 300 MHz.

SDV5122T/27 specifications

The Philips SDV5122T/27 is a compact and efficient indoor TV antenna that is designed to enhance your viewing experience by providing excellent reception of digital terrestrial television signals. This antenna is particularly useful in areas where signal strength may be weak, allowing users to enjoy high-quality programming without the need for a bulky external antenna.

One of the main features of the Philips SDV5122T/27 is its sleek and modern design, which makes it an unobtrusive addition to any home entertainment setup. The compact size ensures that it can be easily placed on a shelf or mounted on a wall without taking up too much space. The ease of installation is another advantage, as users can quickly set it up by simply connecting it to their TV and scanning for available channels.

The antenna supports both VHF and UHF signals, making it versatile enough to capture a wide range of local broadcasting channels. Thanks to its high gain amplification technology, the SDV5122T/27 is capable of boosting weak signals, which is particularly beneficial in urban environments where there may be interference from buildings and other obstacles. This ensures that users can enjoy a clearer and more stable picture quality, reducing the likelihood of pixelation or signal loss.

Additionally, the antenna features a 360-degree reception capability, which means it can pick up signals from all directions. This is a significant advantage, as traditional antennas often require precise alignment to receive signals effectively. The SDV5122T/27 eliminates the need for complicated adjustments by automatically picking up signals from various angles.

Philips also emphasizes the durability and quality of their products, and the SDV5122T/27 is no exception. Built with reliable materials, it is designed to withstand typical household conditions while maintaining consistent performance. Furthermore, the antenna is compatible with all TV brands that have a built-in tuner, adding to its overall convenience and user-friendliness.

In summary, the Philips SDV5122T/27 indoor TV antenna combines style, functionality, and advanced technology. With features such as high gain amplification, 360-degree reception, and compatibility with most TV brands, it is an attractive option for anyone looking to enhance their television viewing experience without the complexity associated with traditional outdoor antennas. The SDV5122T/27 offers a seamless solution to gain access to local stations while ensuring excellent signal quality, making it a worthwhile investment for any TV enthusiast.
