Philips and JVC Video Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PJVM) was established in the year 1988 and was then known as JVC Video Manufacturing Malaysia Sdn Bhd (JVM). A joint venture was inaugurated between Philips and JVC in the year 1991 and the change of name from JVM to PJVM became official on February 1st of that year. It was the first company to manufacture VCRs in Malaysia.

Today, PJVM is well known in the world of VCRs and has become the leader among the manufacturers of VCRs with the full support of JVC, the inventor of the VHS format, and the invaluable guidance rendered by Philips.
