StabiliTrak® – Stability Control System (if equipped)

StabiliTrak is an advanced computer- controlled vehicle stability system that assists with directional control of the vehicle in difficult driving conditions. It turns on automatically every time you start your vehicle.

When the system senses a discrepancy between your intended path and the direction the vehicle is actually traveling, it selectively applies brake pressure at any one of the wheels to help steer the vehicle.

See Section 4 of your Owner Manual.

Parking Your Vehicle Your vehicle is equipped with an electronic shift lock release system.

Automatic Transmission

When parking your vehicle, the system prevents the ignition key from being removed unless the shift lever is in Park with the shift lever button fully released. When shifting into Park, press down the brake pedal. Then move the shift lever into Park by pressing the button on the shift lever and pushing the lever all the way forward. With the vehicle in Park, turn the ignition key to Lock and remove the key.

Your vehicle is equipped with an electric BTSI (Brake Transmission Shift Interlock). The shift lever cannot be moved out of Park position without first pressing the brake. To shift out of Park, press down the brake pedal before shifting. Then press the button on the

shift lever and move the lever to the desired gear position. The shift lever will not move from the Park position if the button is pressed before the brake. The shift lever also will not shift out of Park if the ignition is in the Lock position.

Manual Transmission

To park your vehicle, press down the clutch pedal. Then move the shift lever into Reverse and apply the parking brake. Turn the ignition key to Lock and remove the key.

To start your vehicle, hold down the clutch pedal and shift into Neutral. Your vehicle will not start if the clutch pedal is not all the way down.

See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Battery Location

The battery is located in the spare tire well, under the load floor in the trunk. Should it be necessary to jump-start your vehicle, use the remote positive terminal in the engine compartment. The nega- tive cable can be connected to the ground terminal located behind the engine coolant surge tank or to a heavy, unpainted metal part of the vehicle.
