Press the left hand, side of the zoom control to zoom out or move away from the subject. Press the right hand, side of the zoom control to zoom in or move closer to the subject. The camera is equipped with a 3x optical zoom and a 4x digital zoom. The optical zoom physically adjusts the lens to magnify the image. The digital zoom simply enlarges the image. When using the zoom function the camera uses the optical zoom as far as possible, and then the digital zoom.
