Do not store the camera with naphtha or camphor moth balls, close to equipment that produces strong magnetic fields, or in areas subject to extremes of temperature, for example near a space heater or in a closed vehicle on a hot day.

To prevent mold or mildew, take the cam- era out of storage at least once a month. Turn the camera on and release the shut- ter a few times before putting the camera away again.

Store the battery in a cool, dry place. Re- place the terminal cover before putting the battery away.

Notes on the monitor

The monitor may contain a few pixels that are always lit or that do not light. This is a characteristic common to all TFT LCD monitors and does not indicate a malfunc- tion. Images recorded with the product will not be affected.

Images in the monitor may be difficult to see in a bright light.

Do not apply pressure to the monitor; this could cause damage or malfunction. Dust or lint on the monitor can be removed with a blower. Stains can be removed by rubbing the surface lightly with a soft cloth or chamois leather.

Should the monitor break, care should be taken to avoid injury due to broken glass and to prevent the liquid crystal from the monitor touching the skin or entering the eyes or mouth.

Replace the monitor cover when trans- porting the camera or leaving it unat- tended.

Turn the product off before removing or dis- connecting the power source

Do not unplug the product or remove the battery while the product is on, or while images are being recorded or deleted. Forc- ibly cutting power to the product in these

circumstances could result in loss of data or in damage to product memory or internal circuitry. To prevent an accidental inter- ruption of power, avoid carrying the product from one location to another while the AC adapter is connected.

Batteries

When you turn the device on, check the battery-level displayed in the control panel to determine whether the battery needs to be replaced. The battery needs to be replaced when the battery-level indicator is flashing.

Ready a spare battery and keep it fully charged when taking photographs on im- portant occasions. Depending on your lo- cation, you may find it difficult to purchase replacement batteries on short notice.

On cold days, the capacity of batteries tends to decrease. Be sure the battery is fully charged before taking photographs outside in cold weather. Keep a spare battery in a warm place and exchange the two as necessary. Once warmed, a cold battery may recover some of its charge.

Should the battery terminals become dirty, wipe them off with a clean, dry cloth be- fore use.

After removing the battery from the cam- era, be sure to replace the terminal cover.

Memory cards

Turn the power off before inserting or removing memory cards. Inserting or removing cards with the power on could render them unusable.

Insert memory cards as

shown in the illustration at right. Inserting cards upside down or back- wards could damage the camera or the card.

D2x specifications

The Nikon D2x, launched in 2005, marked a significant advancement in digital photography for both professionals and enthusiasts. It was designed to deliver exceptional performance and quality within a robust body, making it a trusted companion for various photographic scenarios.

At the heart of the D2x is a 12.4 megapixel CMOS sensor, which offers a remarkable level of detail and enables large prints without compromising image quality. This sensor distinguishes itself by providing excellent dynamic range and responsiveness, allowing photographers to capture stunning images even in challenging lighting conditions.

One of the D2x's standout features is its dual-area autofocus system. The camera boasts 11 AF points, with three-dimensional focus tracking that intelligently predicts the movement of subjects, ensuring sharp focus even with fast-moving objects. This makes it particularly suitable for sports and wildlife photography, where decisive moments are fleeting.

The D2x operates with a high-speed continuous shooting mode, capable of capturing up to 5 frames per second in RAW format. This is a crucial feature for action photographers who need quick succession shots to get that perfect frame. Additionally, the camera offers a burst mode that enables extended shooting, with a capacity for up to 85 frames in JPEG format, ensuring that no moment is missed.

Another highlight of the Nikon D2x is its advanced metering system, which utilizes 1005 pixel RGB sensors to achieve precise exposure control. This system evaluates the scene and ensures that highlights and shadows are well-balanced for a natural look, contributing to the overall quality of images produced.

The D2x is built with a rugged magnesium alloy body designed to withstand tough conditions, making it suitable for fieldwork. It also integrates an ergonomic design that enhances comfort during prolonged shooting sessions, accommodating the demanding nature of professional use.

In terms of connectivity, the D2x includes USB 2.0 and HDMI ports for easy connectivity and data transfer. It also supports Nikon’s Creative Lighting System, which allows for advanced flash synchronization and control, giving photographers flexibility in managing lighting setups.

Overall, the Nikon D2x remains a notable camera in Nikon's lineup, recognized for its high-performance image capture, robust build, and reliable focus capabilities. As a professional-grade camera, it combines advanced technologies with user-friendly features, catering to the needs of both aspiring and seasoned photographers.
