Meade® #887 Advanced Field Tripod; #889 Tripod Adapter

The #887 Advanced Field Tripod yields rock-solid stability for sensitive applications of the Meade ETX-125 telescope. The #889 Tripod Adapter, included with the #887 Tripod, may also be purchased separately for use with Meade LX10, LX50, or LX200 tripods and permits attachment of the ETX-125 to any of these tripods.

Altazimuth Installation

(Refer to Figure 1)

1.Attach the adapter to your ETX telescope: Slide the two adapter knobs through the attachment holes on the bottom of the adapter plate. Thread the knobs into the tripod holes on the base of your ETX. Tighten to firm feel only. See Figure 1 for proper orientation.

2.Thread the tension lock nut onto the large threaded rod. Orient the lock nut so that the side with the protruding cylinder points upwards. Thread the lock nut down the rod about 3 inches.

3.Attach the #889 Adapter/ETX-125 assembly to the tripod by threading the large threaded rod in the center of the tripod head into the large hole on the bottom of the adapter base. Note that three tapped holes are provided in the adapter if a more secure attachment is desired. Use 1/4"- 20 bolts (not supplied).

4.Thread the tension lock nut upwards until it tightens against the base of the tripod.
