POWER STAGE

The Maestro Monoblock’s nominal output power is of 250W @8ohms impedance. This power goes up to 800W@2ohms. The protections starts to work at around 1000W with a load of 1ohm(if your house system can support it!) To obtain this kind of power levels the supply section has been over dimensioned. In fact, have been used two toroidal transformers for a total of 1406W. Each power branch is rectified from a diode’s bridge, with 50A components and the filter section contains 8 electrolytic 15000μF capacitors for a total of 120000 μF. Furthermore, also the supply of the low power section has been realized one bridge for each branch and filtrated with two 15000μF capacitors.

To maintain a low output impedance has been realised 10 pairs of bipolar transistors whom low distortion level are guaranteed by the producer. Their polarization current permits to get a class A working up to about 10W.

The current pass trough some copper bars. Each earth converges to a sole junction (star configuration) realised with a copper plate half a millimetre thick that has also a shielding function.

Obviously, such big quantity of different parts is used to supply only one channel of your stereo system!

STADIO DI POTENZA

La potenza nominale del Maestro Mono è di 250W su un carico di 8Ω. Questa potenza sale fino ad 800W su 2Ω., Le protezioni intervengono a circa 1000W su un carico di 1Ω, se la rete di casa regge! Per ottenere questi livelli di potenza la sezione di alimentazione è stata sovradimensionata. Sono stati infatti utilizzati due trasformatori toroidali per un totale di 1406 W. Ciascun ramo di potenza è raddrizzato da un ponte di diodi realizzato con componenti ultraveloci da 50A e la sezione di filtro contiene 8 condensatori elettrolitici da 15000μF per un totale di 120000μF. Bisogna far notare che anche l’alimentazione della sezione di bassa potenza è stata realizzata con un ponte per ramo e filtrata con due condensatori da 15000μF.

Per mantenere una bassa impedenza di uscita sono state utilizzate 10 coppie di transistor bipolari i cui bassi livelli di distorsione sono garantiti dal produttore. La loro corrente di polarizzazione consente di ottenere un funzionamento in classe A fino a circa 10W.

La grande corrente erogata viene fatta passare attraverso barre di rame. Tutte le masse si richiudono in un unico nodo (configurazione a stella) realizzato con una piastra di rame spessa mezzo millimetro che ha anche una funzione di schermatura.

Ovviamente tutto questo dispendio di componenti è usato per alimentare un solo canale del vostro stereo!

PROTECTIONS

An amplifier able to supply more than 30 ampere must be well protected.

The amplifier Maestro Monoblock has a section exclusively dedicated to this function. At the moment of the switching on, the filter capacitors are loaded trough two power resistors to limit the power consumption.

Once the supply voltage has passed the critical phase, the resistors are excluded by two 40A relay.

These relay are able to stop the supply of the power amplifier and have been used to replace the fuses. The only existing fuse on the Maestro Mono is used to protect the control board and hasn’t any effect to the audio signal. There are also others protections that are used to control the presence of DC power on the speakers, the AC power voltage drop and the current consumption surplus.

PROTEZIONI

Un amplificatore in grado di erogare più di 30 ampere deve essere ben protetto. L’amplificatore Maestro Monoblock ha un’intera sezione dedicata soltanto a questo scopo. All’accensione i condensatori di filtro vengono caricati attraverso due resistenze di potenza per limitare l’assorbimento. Una volta che la tensione di alimentazione ha superato la fase critica, le resistenze vengono escluse attraverso due relè da 40 A. Questi relè sono in grado di interrompere l’alimentazione del finale e quindi sono stati usati per sostituire i fusibili. L’unico fusibile presente sul Maestro Monoblock serve a proteggere la scheda di controllo e quindi non è mai attraversato dal segnale sonoro. Altre protezioni presenti sul finale si occupano di controllare la presenza di continua sulle casse, l’abbassamento della tensione di alimentazione dei finali e l’eccesso di corrente assorbita.
