Preparing for surround sound

To enhance the surround modes, various parameters can be 1 4 set up to accomodate the speaker system used and the environment of the listening room. The following procedure let you set the parameters of the surround modes (DOLBY

PRO LOGIC, DOLBY 3 STEREO and DSP).

Once the settings have been done, it is held in memory so readjustment is not necessary even after the mode has been changed.

Recommended speaker installation

It is recommended that the surround speakers are installed straight to the left and right of the listening position or slightly behind, at a height of about 1 meter higher than the listener’s ears. Each surround speaker should be installed so that the longer sides are horizontal.

1Select the Dolby Pro Logic surround mode.

The following adjustments (center mode, test tone, etc.) are common for all surround modes, including DSP. You do not need to make separate adjustments for each sound mode.

When you select PRO LOGIC, each press of the CENTER MODE key switches the center mode as follows:

1 "NORMAL" :When using a standard (small) center speaker.

2"WIDE BAND" :When using a full range (large) center speaker.

3 "PHANTOM" :When not using a center speaker.

3Turn on the SUBWOOFER.

1Press to select SUB ON (OFF).

2Use the TUNING/SKIP +/– keys on the remote to select "ON" (or "OFF" if you did not connect a subwoofer).
