1 Connect a stereo microphone to the MIC IN socket.

2 Insert a recordable MiniDisc (page 13).

3 Press the REC button.

4 Press the MENU/ENTER button.

5 Press the or button repeatedly to se- lect "Mic Level".

6 Press the MENU/ENTER button.

7 Press the or button repeatedly to se- lect "Auto-Hi", "Auto-Lo" or "MANUAL".

"When "Auto-Hi" or "Auto-Lo" is selected, the re- cording level is automatically adjusted according to changes in sound volume. Normally select "Auto- Hi". When the recording level frequently reaches "OVER", switch to "Auto-Lo" to lower the level. Set the maximum level between "-4 dB" and "0 dB".

"The automatic level adjustment may be delayed by a few seconds where source sounds show sudden and rapid changes (especially in meet- ings and conversations). In this case adjust the recording level manually (see page 30).

8 Press the MENU/ENTER button.

The mode will be set automatically after 7 seconds even if the MENU/ENTER button is not pressed.

9 Select the recording mode (steps 1 - 5, page 24).

10Press the button.

Recording will start.
