3.1.3Notes on Optimal Use
3.1.3.1Nikon
The AstroScope 200mm Catadioptric Lens has a fixed aperture of F1.3. Since there is no electronic communication between the camera and lens, the camera’s automatic settings cannot be used. However, the CIU includes an internal automatic gain control feature so that a constant light output is maintained from the intensifier for most light levels. Consequently, we recommend adjusting the Nikon camera settings as follows:
1.Set the ISO to 1000 or higher. When using photographic film, use high speed film only, ISO1000 minimum
2.Set the camera to “Manual Exposure” mode.
3.Set the shutter to 1/30 second as a minimum speed.
