Playing Video CDs with PBC Function (VCD 2.0)

The System provides a Playback Control (PBC) function which utilizes a procedure (menu selection) programmed in a video CD.

What is the Playback Control (PBC) function?

The PBC function allows you to enjoy the following features.

Menu-driven playback

You can interact with the TV screen using a menu display to se- lect and play an entry.

High-resolution still image display

You can display high-quality images four times clearer than vid- eo pictures.

For operation, refer to the instructions supplied for the video CD.

You can play video CDs with PBC function using the interactive play or without using the PBC function (Continuous Play).

The playback operation procedure may differ depending on the video CD you use.

Sometimes due to improper manufacturing, video CDs will function differently.

Playing Video CDs with the PBC Function Using the interactive feature (Menu-Driven Play)

1 Insert a video CD.

The “PBC” indicator will light up on the display when a video CD of version 2.0 is inserted.

2 Press the CD 6 button.

“PBC” appears on the display and playback starts from the first menu.

2.Press the SELECT button to play it back.

The next item will be automatically played after the current item is finished.

On the Remote Control

Press the numeric keys to select the item number and start the play- back.

To pause, press the STILL button on the Remote Control.

To resume pause, press the STILL button on the Remote Con- trol.

To stop playback, press the 7 button on the Unit.

To select other item during menu selection status, repeat step 4.

Repeat function does not work when PBC is ON.

Search Play

Holding down the following buttons, during playback, will fast forward/backwards the video CD so you can quickly find a partic- ular passage in the track you are playing.

During Search Play, the playing time quickly changes on the dis- play and on the TV.

3 To move through the next menu, press the NEXT or PREV button.

4 To select the item in the menu and play it, press the following buttons.

On the Unit:

1.Press the VCD NUMBER + or – button to select the item (“SEL **”) you want to play.

• When you use Search Play mode, no sound is heard.
