PROXIMITY EFFECT

PROXIMITY EFFECT

With directional microphones, bass response increases as the mic is moved closer (within two feet) to the sound source.

This phenomenon, known as proximity effect, can be used to create a warmer, more powerful sound. To prevent explosive low frequency sound during close-up use, the KSM313 bass response gradually rolls off. This provides greater control and helps the user take advantage of proximity effect.

CARE AND HANDLING

The KSM313 is a precision instrument designed for rugged use. However, it should be treated carefully to ensure reliable results during each session. To protect your microphone, keep a few simple precautions in mind to ensure long term performance:

1.Store your microphone in its protective case when it is not in use. Leaving the microphone lying around will expose the ribbon element to dust and other airborne particles that can adhere to the inner assembly and decrease performance. This advice applies to all high quality studio microphones!

2.When setting up the KSM313, maintain a reasonable distance from fluorescent lights, power transformers, and other strong electromagnetic sources to avoid hum.

3.Use a secure mount and stand and a good quality balanced, shielded XLR connecting cable. For additional mounting accessories, visit our website:www.shure.com

4.Phantom power is not necessary and should not be supplied when connecting or disconnecting the microphone. However, properly supplied phantom power will not harm the microphone.

ksm313 specifications

The Shure KSM313 is a premium ribbon microphone renowned for its exceptional sound quality and versatility in a variety of recording environments. Designed for professional use, the KSM313 stands out with its innovative technology and features that cater to both studio and live performance applications.

One of the defining characteristics of the KSM313 is its dual-element ribbon design, which provides a warm and natural sound reproduction. This design incorporates two distinct ribbon elements, each tuned to capture different frequency ranges, resulting in an extended frequency response that allows for rich lows and smooth highs. This makes the KSM313 particularly effective for capturing vocals, guitars, and various acoustic instruments, ensuring every nuance is preserved.

The KSM313 also features a unique bi-directional polar pattern, which captures sound equally from the front and rear while rejecting noise from the sides. This characteristic is particularly advantageous in ensemble settings or when recording in untreated rooms, as it helps isolate the sound source, minimizing bleed from other instruments or environmental noise.

The build quality of the KSM313 is robust, featuring a durable metal chassis that can withstand the rigors of professional use. The ribbon is designed to be resilient, with an innovative protection system that guards against loud sound levels, making the microphone suitable for high-output sources like guitar amplifiers and brass instruments.

Additionally, the KSM313 incorporates advanced technologies such as a patented ribbon design that enhances the microphone's sensitivity and transient response. This is crucial for capturing the detailed dynamics of a performance, allowing audio engineers to achieve studio-quality recordings with ease.

In terms of connectivity, the KSM313 is equipped with a standard XLR output, making it compatible with most audio interfaces and mixing consoles. With a frequency response range of 30 Hz to 20 kHz, it covers the full spectrum of audio, ensuring that it accurately captures the richness and depth of sound.

In summary, the Shure KSM313 ribbon microphone combines cutting-edge technology with rugged construction to deliver exceptional performance in a variety of recording situations. Its warm sound profile, effective polar pattern, and durable design make it a top choice for professionals seeking to achieve the highest audio fidelity. Whether used in a studio or live setting, the KSM313 is a reliable tool that artists and engineers can depend on for outstanding results.
