The radio’s range decreases as bat- tery power decreases. To ensure maximum range, keep fresh batter- ies in the radio.

When the batteries weaken, a tone sounds for about 5 seconds, the ra- dio will not transmit or receive, and an error tone sounds whenever you press PTT, MON, or CALL. Replace the batteries.

Warning: Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or bury them.
