INSTALLATION

This chapter describes how to install Intelligent Mirroring on the Primary

Server and the Secondary Server.

Overview

Follow these instructions, in the order that they are given, when you

install and configure the servers.

1Completely install the Primary Server before you begin to install the Secondary Server. See the instructions in Primary Server Installation, next.

After you have installed the Primary Server, the system reboots itself.

2Verify that the Primary Server is operational and that you can place calls.

3Install the Secondary Server. See the instructions in Secondary Server Installation on page 20.

The device names of the network interfaces on your systems may vary

from those used in the following examples. To obtain a list of the device

names for your network interfaces, use the ifconfig -acommand.

Stopping System If any version of the Unified Messaging System software is running on Software any of the machines in the configuration, you must perform these steps

on each machine:

1Stop the application using this command:

/usr/app/gen/stopmon

2Verify that the application is stopped using this command:

/usr/app/gen/hmm app

You should see no processes in the list.

V7300 specifications

The 3Com V7300 is a sophisticated network switch designed to cater to the demands of modern enterprise networking. With its robust feature set and advanced capabilities, it is positioned as a critical component in delivering high-performance connectivity.

One of the key features of the 3Com V7300 is its high port density. The switch supports a variety of port configurations, allowing for 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet connections. This flexibility ensures that organizations can scale their networks with ease, adapting to growing bandwidth requirements without compromising performance. Additionally, the switch can accommodate both copper and fiber connections, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure.

A standout technology integrated into the 3Com V7300 is its support for Layer 3 routing. This allows for intelligent traffic management and enhanced data routing within complex network environments. With Layer 3 functionality, organizations can segment their networks for improved security and performance, as well as enable inter-VLAN routing. This capability is critical for businesses looking to optimize their network efficiency while ensuring secure communication between different network segments.

The V7300 also boasts advanced Quality of Service (QoS) features. This technology prioritizes critical applications and services, ensuring that voice and video traffic receive the bandwidth they require for uninterrupted performance. By implementing QoS policies, organizations can enhance user experience, especially in environments where real-time communications are essential.

Reliability is a cornerstone of the 3Com V7300's design, featuring redundancy options such as dual power supplies and fan units. This ensures that the switch remains operational even in the event of hardware failures, minimizing downtime and maintaining service continuity. The robust management capabilities, including SNMP support, allow IT administrators to monitor the network effectively and respond to issues proactively.

Security features are also a significant consideration with the V7300. It includes access control lists (ACLs), port security, and VLAN support to restrict access and protect sensitive data from unauthorized users. Further, the integration of 802.1X authentication enhances network security by ensuring that only authorized devices can access the network.

In conclusion, the 3Com V7300 stands out as a high-performance network switch suitable for enterprises seeking to future-proof their networking capabilities. With its high port density, Layer 3 routing, advanced QoS, reliability, and robust security measures, it is a solid choice for businesses looking to enhance their network infrastructure.
