Power supply

Whenever convenient, use the power supply if you want to conserve battery life. Make sure you remove the plug from the set and wall outlet before inserting batteries.

Batteries (not included)

Open the battery compartment and

 

insert six batteries, type R-14, UM2 or

 

C-cells, (preferably alkaline) with the

 

correct polarity as indicated by the "+"

 

and "-" symbols inside the compartment.

Replace the compartment door, making

 

sure the batteries are firmly and correctly

 

in place.The set is now ready to operate.

Using AC Power

1Check if the power voltage, as shown on the type plate located on the bottom of the set, corresponds to your local power supply. If it does not, consult your dealer or service center.

2Connect the power cord to the

AC MAINS inlet and the wall outlet.The power supply is now connected and ready for use.

3To switch off completely, unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

General operation

1To select your sound source, adjust the source selector to CD, FM or AM.

2Adjust the sound with the VOLUME control.

3To switch off the set, adjust the source selector to OFF position.

Tuner reception

1Adjust the source selector to FM or AM.

2Turn TUNING to tune to a station.

CD player

Display indication for CD functions:

OO: Cd door open

--:reading disc contents / no disc/ error in CD operation or with the CD/ CD-R/W is blank or not finalized

In stop mode: total track number

During CD playback: 9 and current track number

2: playback on pause

PROG: when CD program active

4To pause playback, press PLAY/ PAUSE 2;.

5To resume, press PLAY/ PAUSE 2; again.

6To stop CD play, press STOP 9.

7To switch off the set, adjust the source selector to OFF position and check if the cassette keys are released.

Note: CD play will also stop when:

--you open the CD compartment;

--you select FM or AM sound source;

--the CD has reached to the end.

This CD player plays Audio Discs including CD-Recordables and Rewritable.

MP3 CD-ROMs, CD-I, CDV,VCD, DVD or computers CDs are not possible for playback.

Selecting a different track

During playback you can use ∞/ § to select a particular track.

If you have selected a track number in the stop or pause position, press PLAY/ PAUSE 2; to start playback.

When inserting new batteries, do not try to mix old batteries with the new ones.

Remove the batteries if the set is not to be used for a long time.

Whether you are using mains or battery supply, to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, always adjust the source selector to OFF after using the set.

Troubleshooting

Finding a passage within a track

1During playback, press and hold down ∞/ §.

The CD is played at high speed and low volume.

2When you recognize the passage you want release ∞/ §.

4Repeat steps 2 to 3 to select and store all desired tracks in this way.

If you attempt to store more than

20 tracks, no track can be selected and the display will review your programmed tracks.

5To play your program, press PLAY/ PAUSE 2;.

CD player and CD handling

• The lens of the CD player should never

be touched!

• Sudden changes in the surrounding

temperature can cause condensation to

form and the lens of your CD player to

cloud over. Playing a CD is then not

possible. Do not attempt to clean the lens

• Always shut the CD door to keep the

CD compartment dust-free.To clean, dust

the compartment with a soft dry cloth.

• To take a CD out of its box, press the

center spindle while lifting the CD. Always

pick up the CD by the edge and replace

the CD back in its box after use to avoid

scratching and dust.

• To clean the CD, wipe in a straight line

If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the set for repair.

If you are unable to remedy a problem by following these hints, consult your dealer or service centre.

WARNING: Under no circumstances should you try to repair the set yourself, as this would invalidate the warranty.

Programming track numbers

You may store up to 20 tracks in the desired sequence. If you like, store any track more than once.

1In the STOP position, press PROGRAM to activate programming.

Display: shows 01 indicating the start of the program. PROG and 01 flash.

2Press ∞ or § to select your desired track number.

3Press PROGRAM to store the desired track number.

Display shows 02 and flashes (up to 20 in sequence) indicating the next available program location.

Erasing a program

You can erase the contents of the memory by:

press STOP 9 (twice during playback or once in the stop position;

selecting FM or AM sound source;
