Connections

:: Basic Connections

This chapter describes how to connect the Rio Karma and the Rio Karma docking station to power adapters, USB cables, and additional accessories. Basic connections include:

AC Adapter

Connect the AC power adapter to the DC IN port on the bottom of the player or the back of the docking station. The power adapter recharges the battery from 0% capacity to 60-70% capacity within two hours.

Rio Karma

1Plug the AC adapter into an electrical outlet.

2Connect the AC adapter to the docking station.

3Place the Rio Karma in the docking station.

Battery

The Rio Karma uses a built-in lithium-ion rechargable battery that lasts many hours per charge. Lithium-ion batteries drain at a very slow rate even when they are not being used. If you have not used your Rio Karma in a long period of time you will need to recharge the battery.

The battery should be charged for at least five hours during its initial charge. The player will recharge anytime the AC adapter is plugged into the player or the Rio Karma is placed in the docking station and the docking station is connected to the AC adapter. The Rio Karma may be left in the docking station for extended periods of time without fear that the Rio Karma’s lithium-ion battery will be overcharged.
