Powering Your Radio

You can power your radio from four C batteries. When the sound weakens, replace the batteries. For longest operation, we recommend alkaline batteries such as RadioShack Cat. No. 23-551.

Follow these steps to install the batteries.

1.Press the two latches on the battery compartment cover and pull it off in the direction indicated by the arrows.

2.Place four C batteries in the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked in the compartment.

CAUTIONS: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type.

Never mix fresh with old batteries, or chargeable with non-chargeable batteries.

Never leave dead or weak batteries in the radio. They might leak chemicals that can damage your radio and corrode electronic circuits. If you do not plan to use the radio for a week or more, remove and store the batteries.

3.Replace the battery compartment cover. Using AC Power

To power the radio with standard AC power, use the supplied power cord. Connect one end of the cord to the radio AC jack and the other end to a standard AC outlet.

To prevent electric shock, one blade on the AC power cord's plug is wider than the other and the plug only fits one way. If you cannot easily insert the plug, turn it over and try again. Do not force it.

Note: Internal batteries (if installed) automatically disconnect when you plug the power cord into the radio.
