Getting Started – Powering Your Radio

Before powering your radio, be sure to read the Safety Instructions on page 10.

The green “DYNAMO” light on the front of the radio will glow indicating proper winding speed. After 90 seconds of wind- ing, the radio will play for about 45 minutes.

— When using AA alkaline batteries, the radio

shouldPower playusingatAAnormalB tteriesvolume for about 140 hours. When using nickel metal hydrate rechargeable AA batteries, about 100 hours of play can be expected. This radio will not charge user-installed batteries.

Inserting Batteries:

1. Position the radio face down on a soft surface to protect it.

2. Remove the battery compartment cover.

3. Insert the 3 “AA” cell batteries into the compartment, as indicated in the picture below. Be sure the negative (-) end is against the spring. Refer to the picture below to insure correct installation of your batteries.

4. Replace the battery cover. On the front of the radio, slide the “Power Switch” to “Battery”.You are now ready to operate your radio on batteries.
