Chapter 3: Preparing the Cabinet for Installation

Cables are usually run into the side cable apertures of a cabinet and straight onto cable trays fitted to the cabinet frame (see Figure 3-5). With the interconnecting server and equipment, cables are dressed to the side and rear.

Most equipment fans expel hot waste air to the rear of the cabinet.. Disorganized cabling can inhibit airflow movement, so be careful when dressing cabling. We recommend that cables are dressed to the side rear infill panels.

Fitting a cable entry box (QCE-CEB)

Select a cable entry point and remove four M6 screws. Then remove the gland plate.

The gland plate will also be held in place by the adhesive stuck to the soundproof material; this means some force may be required to remove the gland plate. The soundproof material is partly precut and will require only the adhesive layer to be cut by a sharp blade before being removed.

One cable entry box (see Figure 3-2) is supplied with each cabinet. If you need more cable entry boxes, contact Black Box Technical Support at 724-746-5500 or info@blackbox.com.

Black Box has established itself as a leader in providing robust and innovative solutions for various technology needs, particularly in the realm of connectivity and data management. The QCE series includes a range of high-performance enclosures designed to meet the demands of modern IT infrastructure. Models like QCE24U, QCE42U, QCE-SPFP-5U, QCE-SPFP-1U, and QCE12U exemplify this commitment to quality, durability, and efficiency.

The QCE24U is a versatile 24U rack enclosure that provides adequate space for IT equipment while ensuring optimal airflow and cooling. Its sturdy construction enables the mounting of various devices, including servers and networking hardware. This model features removable side panels and a glass front door, promoting easy access and visibility. Additionally, customizable cable management options help maintain a clean and organized setup.

The QCE42U takes things to the next level with 42U of vertical space, supporting a larger array of devices. It's designed for more extensive applications, making it ideal for data centers and facilities requiring high-density equipment housing. Like the QCE24U, the QCE42U features efficient airflow management, ensuring that your equipment remains cool and operational under heavy loads. Enhanced security features, such as locking doors, provide peace of mind for sensitive data.

For those needing a solution for fiber patching, the QCE-SPFP-5U and QCE-SPFP-1U are specifically designed with fiber connectivity in mind. The 5U model offers more space for fiber management and can accommodate an extensive number of fiber patch panels. The 1U version, while more compact, is perfect for environments where space is at a premium. Both models facilitate the organization of fiber cables, reduce clutter, and improve airflow.

Lastly, the QCE12U offers a balance between compact design and functional performance. This 12U enclosure is suited for smaller server rooms or remote installations, where space is limited but performance cannot be compromised. The QCE12U shares many of the core features of its larger counterparts, such as adjustable mounting rails and efficient cooling solutions.

In summary, the Black Box QCE series combines innovative design with practical features to provide flexible and scalable solutions for various IT environments. From small office setups to robust data centers, these enclosures meet diverse needs while emphasizing security, airflow management, and ease of access. With models tailored to specific requirements, users can confidently select the right enclosure for their technology infrastructure.
