225 amp AC output is enough for 3/16” diameter general purpose mild steel electrodes and 5/32” sizes of other electrodes.

125 amp DC output is enough for most 1/8” electrodes.

Warning: Pipe thawing with an arc welder can cause fire, explosion, damage to electric wiring or to the arc welder if done improperly. The use of an arc welder for pipe thawing is not approved by the CSA, nor is it recommended or supported by Lincoln Electric.

for use in electrically hazardous conditions such as: damp locations, while wearing wet clothing, on metal structures, or in cramped positions. Use a DC stick or wire welder.
