19.CHECK DAMAGED PARTS. Before further use of the tool, a guard or other part that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized seNice center unless otherwise indicated elsewhere in this instruction manual. Have defective switches replaced by authorized service center. Do not use tool if switch does not turn it on and off.

20.WEAR EAR PROTECTION to safeguard against possible hearing loss.

21.NEVER ADJUST DEPTH OF CUT WHILE MOTOR IS RUNNING. A slip at this time may cause personal injury, or damage to cutter or workpiece.

22.BE SURE CORD SET IS FREE and will not “hang up” during routing operations.

23.KEEP HANDS CLEAR OF CUTTER when motor is running to prevent personal injury.

24.MAINTAIN FIRM GRIP on router when starting motor to resist starting torque.

25.STAY ALERT and keep cutter clear of all foreign objects while motor is running.

26.BE SURE MOTOR HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED before setting machine down between operations.

27.SOME WOOD CONTAINS PRESERVATIVES WHICH CAN BE TOXIC. Take extra care to prevent inhalation and skin contact when working with these materials. Request, and follow, any safety information available from your material supplier.

OPERATION

Fig. 1 shows the posts, micrometer adjusting block and guide rods assembled to the top (flat) plate. At the left of Fig. 2, the flat head screws that secure the posts can be seen.

The micrometer adjusting block and guide rod posts are mounted on the top side (side

on which A, B and C are stamped) of the top (flat) plate.

The posts are located in holes marked A, B, or C so that the guide rods line up with the mounting holes in the base of your Porter-Cable Router.
