OPERATIONS
IMPORTANT: KEEP SPARK GUARDS AND EYE SHIELDS IN PLACE AT ALL TIMES.
Fig. 18
Figures 18, 19, and 20 illustrate several typical opera- |
tions that can be accomplished using the grinder. Each |
tool rest should be positioned a little below the center of |
the grinding wheel and adjusted so the edge of the tool |
rest is as close as possible to the grinding wheel for maxi- |
mum support to the piece that is being ground. This is |
the most practical and safest position for general work. |
As the grinding wheel wears down to a smaller diameter, |
readjust the tool rest closer to the grinding wheel. A dis- |
tance of 1/8" or less between the grinding wheel and the |
edge of the tool rest should always be maintained. Free- |
hand grinding without the use of the tool rest should |
always be done on the lower quarter of the grinding |
wheel. Read the “SAFETY RULES” in the front of this |
manual and follow them while operating this tool. | Fig. 19 |
