SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES

WARNING: READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS. Failure to follow all instructions listed below, may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

1.Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a “live” wire will also make exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock the operator.

2.Keep blades sharp. Sharp blades will do the job better and safer.

3.Keep hands away from cutting area. When sawing never reach underneath or behind the material being cut for any reason.

4.When you have finished a cut be careful not to come into contact with the blade. Turn off the motor immediately.

5.Exercise extreme caution when blind cutting to be certain that there are no foreign objects such as electrical wire, conduit, plumbing pipes, etc., that may come into contact with the blade.

6.Always exercise extreme caution when positioning hands. Use both hands to hold and control tool especially when making angle or scroll cuts. Exercise caution when cutting towards operator.

7.Always be aware of increased tool vibration, kickback and blade breakage potential when making angle and scroll cuts..

8.Use only recommended blades with this tool. Do NOT use jig saw blades without the proper blade adaptor.

9.To prevent accidental electrical shock the tool must be held as shown in Fig. 10 or Fig. 10A, and have the rubber front housing cover properly installed and NOT DAMAGED. The rubber front housing cover also serves as an assembly pin retention mechanism.

10.Do not operate the tool with the guide shoe removed.

11.Stay clear of end pieces that may fall after being cut off.

12.Do not attempt to plunge cut metal. Tool is not designed to plunge cut metal and doing so may result in risk of injury.

13.Some wood contains preservatives which can be toxic. Take extra care to prevent inhalation and skin contact when working with these materials. Request, and follow, any safety information available from your material supplier.

14.There are certain applications for which this tool was designed. Porter- Cable strongly recommends that this tool NOT be modified and/or used for any application other than for which it was designed. If you have any questions relative to its application DO NOT use the tool until you have contacted Porter-Cable and we have advised you.
