1 Overview

The information in this README applies to the following SG SMS Version A.04.00 bundles that include the Veritas Storage Foundation™ 5.1 SP1 Cluster File System (CFS) and Cluster Volume Manager (CVM) by Symantec:

T2777EB bundle — A.04.00.00 HP Serviceguard Cluster File System

T8687EB bundle — A.04.00.00 HP HA-OE with Serviceguard Cluster File System

T8697EB bundle — A.04.00.00 HP DC-OE with Serviceguard Cluster File System

SG SMS bundles that include the Veritas Storage Foundation Cluster File System (CFS) allow clustered servers running HP-UX 11i to mount and use the same file system simultaneously, as if all applications using the file system are running on the same server. SG SMS bundles that include CFS also include the Veritas Storage Foundation Cluster Volume Manager (CVM). CVM makes logical volumes and raw device applications accessible throughout a cluster.

The HP-UX version of the Veritas Storage Foundation™ 5.1 SP1 Cluster File System Administrator's Guide applies to CFS as part of a stand-alone Veritas Storage Foundation installation on HP-UX 11i v3. When CFS is included in a SG SMS bundle, there are some aspects of the Veritas Storage Foundation™ 5.1 SP1 Cluster File System Administrator's Guide that are not applicable. The purpose of this README is to point out these differences.

The Veritas Storage Foundation™ 5.1 SP1 Cluster File System Administrator's Guide is published on the HP Business Support Center (BSC) web site at: www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docsHP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite A.04.xx

SG SMS Bundles Do Not Include VCS

As SG SMS components, CFS and CVM are integrated with HP Serviceguard to form a highly available clustered computing environment. SG SMS bundles that include CFS and CVM do not

include the Veritas™ Cluster Server by Symantec (VCS). VCS functions that are required in a SG SMS environment are performed by Serviceguard. When you consult the Veritas Storage

Foundation™ 5.1 SP1 Cluster File System Administrator's Guide for information on the CFS and CVM included in a SG SMS bundle, substitute Serviceguard for VCS.

Supported Features

For information on SG SMS bundle features, options and applications, see the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version A.04.00 for HP-UX 11i v3 Release Notes published on the HP Business Support Center (BSC) web site at: www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docsHP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite A.04.xx

Unsupported Features

Functionality that is documented as unsupported may not be expressly prevented from operating on CFS, but the actual behavior is indeterminate. HP does not advise using unsupported functionality on CFS, or to alternately mount file systems with unsupported features as local and cluster mounts.
