Canadian V-Chip is a filtering technology built in TV and 'V' stands for

 

"Viewer Control". The technology was developed in Canada to help parents

 

or protectors select which programs should be allowed to watch for their

 

children.

 

The filtering standard is now being applied in Canada divided into four

 

catagories : Canadian-English, Canadian-French, U.S. Parental Guidelines,

 

and MPAA.

 

While V-chip is in operation, the PIP function cannot be used.

Caption

This function shows subtitles at the bottom of the screen. Since you can view

 

subtitles in English, you can utilize this function for studying English. This

 

function is available for programs that provide subtitles for video tapes with

 

the Q or CC marks, or DVDs with the subtitles-included mark.

 

Field 2 carries additional information that supplements the information in

 

Field 1. (For example, Channel 1 may have subtitles in English, While

 

Channel 2 has subtitles in Spanish.)
