PROPER BURNER FLAME APPEARANCE
CAUTION
Before proceeding, be sure the area is well venti- lated. Turn the thermo- stat OFF. If the blower is running, wait until it stops automatically. Turn OFF the gas and electrical power supplies to the fur- nace. Check all metal parts and surfaces to be sure they have cooled to room temperature before you begin.
Remove the front panels and turn the gas control to the OFF position. Check the following items:
ïCheck for dust and lint on the sensor and main burners.
ïCheck the vent pipe and chim- ney for blockage, corrosion or leakage or any obstructions.
ïCheck all components to be sure they are in good condition
and that there are no obvious signs of deterioration.
If all components appear to be in good operating condition, turn the gas control to the ON position. Replace the front panels. Restore gas and power supplies to the fur- nace, and set thermostat to the desired temperature.
If, during your inspection of your furnace, you find any of the follow- ing conditions, do not operate the furnace:
ïExcessive amounts of dust and lint on components.
ïDamaged or deteriorated com- ponents or surfaces.
ïLeaks or blockage in the vent pipe passages.
Call a certified servicing contractor to check your furnace, or for more information if you have questions about the operation of your fur- nace.
