Aprilaire 800 Installation Instructions, Elevation, Distance from Humidifier to Dispersion Tube

Page 6

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (continued)

Elevation

The preferred location for the dispersion tube is higher than the humidifier so that the steam hose has a constant downward slope of at least 2” per foot from the dispersion tube to the humidifier.. If hard pipe is used, the slope can be 1/4” per foot.. With the constant downward slope, any condensation that forms in the steam hose will drain back into the steam canister.. See Figure 3.. If the dispersion tube must be mounted below the humidifier or if the steam hose needs to run up and over an obstruction, a drip tee with drain trap must be installed as shown in Figure 4..

Distance from Humidifier to Dispersion Tube

The capacity of the humidifier is reduced by the length of the steam hose or pipe due to condensation.. The maximum recommended length of steam hose is 6 feet.. Use hard pipe insulated with 1” fiberglass for lengths greater than 6 feet.. Table 3 provides humidifier capacity with various lengths of steam hose and pipe.. If 6-foot steam hose does not reach from humidifier to dispersion tube, splice in 1” copper pipe using ¾” x 1” reducing couplings as shown in Figure 5..

The Aprilaire 800, a highly efficient whole-home humidifier, is designed to enhance indoor air quality and comfort. As part of Aprilaire's renowned line of whole-home products, this system excels in maintaining optimal humidity levels, mitigating health issues related to dry air, and protecting the integrity of your home.

One of the standout features of the Aprilaire 800 is its impressive capacity to deliver significant moisture output—up to 18 gallons per day. This output is ideal for larger homes, ensuring that every room receives adequate humidity. The unit is particularly effective in combating the adverse effects of dry air during winter months when indoor heating can lead to discomfort and increased susceptibility to respiratory issues.

The Aprilaire 800 employs advanced technology, specifically the use of a self-regulating humidifier design that operates independently of your heating system. This means it can maintain humidity levels even when the furnace is not in use. The unit showcases a built-in digital control, allowing homeowners to set and monitor humidity levels easily. The device can also integrate seamlessly with most HVAC systems, enhancing its versatility.

Another notable characteristic of the Aprilaire 800 is its unique water panel design. The patented self-cleaning feature helps reduce mineral buildup, ensuring optimal performance and longevity. This means that maintenance is simplified, requiring minimal intervention to keep the unit functioning at peak efficiency.

Furthermore, the unit can be connected to a water line for continuous operation, eliminating the need for manual refills. This feature not only adds convenience but also ensures a consistent supply of moisture throughout your home.

Energy efficiency is a key consideration in the design of the Aprilaire 800. Its operation is tailored to minimize energy consumption while maximizing moisture output, making it an environmentally friendly choice for maintaining indoor comfort.

In summary, the Aprilaire 800 whole-home humidifier combines high capacity, advanced technology, ease of use, and energy efficiency.
