1.1This appliance requires ventilation to supply combustion air. Any room containing the appliance must have a permanent air vent opening with a total free area of at least 550mm2 per kW of appliance rated output above 5kW.

1.2Increase air supply provisions where a room contains multiple appliances.

1.3If vents open into adjoining rooms or spaces there must be an air vent of at least the same size direct to the outside.

1.4Permanent air vents should be non-adjustable and positioned where they are unlikely to become blocked.

1.5Site the vents where cold draught is unlikely to cause discomfort. This can be avoided by placing vents near ceilings or close to the appliance, see Diagram opposite.
