Neveroperatethe mowerwithoutthe trail shieldin placeandworking. Failureto do socan result inpersonalinjury.

Toreplacethe trail shield,proceedas follows:

1.Removethescrewwhichsecuresthe trailshieldto the right side of the mower. See Figure 29.

2.Bowthe trail shieldinwardoneach sideto releaseit fromthe mowerframe.

3.Installthe replacementtrail shieldby followingthe stepsabovein the oppositeorderandmannerof removal.

BATTERY

Batteryposts,terminals,andrelatedaccessoriescontainleadand leadcompounds,chemicalsknownto the Stateof Californiato cause cancerandreproductiveharm.Washhandsafterhandling.

If removingthe battery,disconnectthe NEGATIVE(Black)wire from it'sterminalfirst,followedby the POSITIVE(Red) wire.When re-installingthe battery,alwaysconnectthe POSITIVE(Red)wire its terminalfirst,followedbythe NEGATIVE(Black)wire.

Jump Starting

Neverjump starta damagedor frozenbattery.Becertainthe vehicles do nottouch,andignitionsareoff. Do notallowcableclampsto touch.

1.Connectpositive(+) cableto positivepost(+)of your mower's dischargedbattery.

2.Connectthe otherendof the cableto the(positive+) postof the jumperbattery.

3.Connectthe secondcable (negative-) to the otherpostof the jumperbattery.

4.Makethefinal connectionon the engineblockof the mower,away

fromthe battery.Attachto an unpaintedpart to assurea good connection.

Ifthejumperbatteryis installedona vehicle(i.e. car,truck),do NOT start the vehicle'senginewhenjump startingyourmower.

5.Startthe mower(as instructedin the Operationsectionof this manual).

6.Removethejumpercablesin reverseorderof connection. Charging
