This unit is shipped WITHOUT GASOLINE or OIL. After assembly, service engine with gasoline and oil as instructed in the separate engine manual packed with your unit.
NOTE: Reference to right or left hand side of the mower is observed from the operating position.
This owner’s manual covers various models of lawnmowers. The units illustrated may vary slightly from your unit. Follow only those instructions which pertain to your model lawnmower.
Tools Required for Assembly
(1) 9/16" Wrench (1) 3/4" Wrench
(required only if wheels are unassembled)
Set-Up
•Remove the lawn mower and all parts from the car- ton. Make certain all parts and literature have been removed from the carton before the carton is dis- carded.
•Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it as in- structed in the separate engine manual packed with your unit.
•Pull up and back on the upper handle to raise the handle into the operating position. Make certain the lower handle is seated securely into the handle mounting brackets. Tighten the large wing nuts on each side of the handle. See Figure 1.

over the lower handle. Snap the plastic fitting into the hole on the inside of the upper handle as shown in Figure 3.
•Move the blade control handle away from the upper handle. Hook the “Z” end of the brake cable into the hole in the blade control handle from the outside to the inside as shown in Figure 4.
WARNING: Brake cable must be assembled
as shown for proper blade brake operation.

•If satisfied with height of handle, tighten wing nuts at the ends of the lower handle shown in Figure 2. The handle may be adjusted by removing the wing nuts shown in Figure 2 and placing the weld pin on the handle bracket in the upper or lower hole in the lower handle.
Brake Cable
•The brake cable is attached to the engine, and has a “Z” fitting on the loose end. Route the brake cable
