Adjusting the Idle Speed
(Models MGR4500I and
MGR6000I)
IMPORTANT: Adjust the idle speed only:
•If the idle speed becomes too high.
•If the engine idle speed will not regulate (engine wants to “hunt” or speeds up and slows down repeatedly).
1.Turn
WARNING: Always set the idle speed before turning on the Auto- Idle. If idle speed is not set, the largerresistoronthecontrolboard may become hot. Heat from the resistormaydamagetheprotective coating on the control board.
2.Loosen the two m10 bolts mounting the solenoid to the engine (see Figures 16 and 17).
3.Connect a volt meter to the
4.Fully push plunger into the solenoid body (to manually engage solenoid) and slowly slide solenoid back until the engine is running at the proper idle speed. At proper idle speed (2800 minimum RPM), the meter should read
5.After reaching proper idle speed, tighten M10 bolts to secure solenoid.
6.Turn
7.If the engine speed is too slow, the engine will want to “hunt” or speed up and slow down repeatedly. When this occurs, increase engine speed by adjusting the throttle (refer to engines operation in Engine Manual).
