Analog Output Connections

TheKPS28c is equippedwith three analogout- put connections: CAST,balanced, and single- ended. Krell recommendsusing its proprietary Krell CASTsystemfor unparalleled sonic per- formancebetweenthe KPS28c and other Krell CAST-equippedcomponents.

TheKPS28c also offers conventional balanced operation. Thecircuitry andconnectionsassocia- ted with balancedoperationnot only canminimize sonic loss but also are immuneto inducednoise, especially for installations using long cables. Balancedconnections have 6 dB moregain than single-endedconnections.Pleasekeepthis speci- fication in mindwhenlevel matchingis critical.

TheCAST,balanced, and single-ended outputs are located on the backpanel. Maintainthe cor- rect left/right orientation.

IMPORTANT

Connecting non-CAST components to CAST inputs or outputs can damageyour equipment and void your warranty

Do not attempt to changeCASTcable termina- tions or CASTinputs or outputs to RCAor XLR connectors.It is electrically impossibleto con- vert CASTinput or output connectionsfor bal- ancedor single-ended voltage operation.

Digital OutputConnections

The KPS28c is equipped with one EIAJ fiber optic digital output with a TosLinkconnectorand onecoaxial digital output with anRCAconnector. Usethese connectionsto sendthis output to a digital recordingdevice, external digital/analog processor,or video source.

CONNECTINGTHE KPS 28c

Follow these steps to connect the KPS28c to your system.

1.Make sure all power sources and compo- nents are off before connectinginputs and outputs.

2.Neatly organize wiring between the KPS 28c and between all system components. Separate AC wires from audio cables to prevent humor other unwantednoise from being introduced into the system.

3.Connectthe Krell CASTcables from the left andright Krell CAST4-pin outputs (13) the KPS28c back panel to your CAST- enabledpreamplifier. For balancedor single- endedoperation, connect the interconnect cablesfromeither the left andright balanced

(14)or the single-ended(15) outputson KPS28c backpanel to the balancedor sin- gle-endedinputs on your preamplifier. (The remaining outputs can be connected to anotherpreamplifierin a different system.)
