INPUT AND OUTPUTCONNECTIONS

Topreventthe introduction of humor other noise into the system, organizeall wiring betweenthe KAV-150aand other system componentsneatly. Separate AC wires fromaudio cables.

1.Connectthe cables from your speakers to the outputterminalsof the amplifier.

TheKAV-150aamplifier utilizes five- waybinding post speakerterminals for the left andright channels.Thespeaker terminals acceptspadelugs, bare wire, bananaplugs, or pins. Thered termi- nals are usedfor positive connections andthe blackterminals are usedfor the negative connections.

2.Connectthe interconnect cables from yourpreamplifierto the input terminalsof the amplifier.

The KAV-150aamplifier is equipped with balancedandsingle-endedinputs. Thebalancedinputs use three pin XLR

connectorsandthe single-endedinputs use RCAconnectors. Krell ®recom- mendsthe use of balanced intercon- nects. Balancedinterconnects not only havethe ability to minimizesonic loss but also haveimmunityto inducednoise, especially for installations using long cable lengths. Balancedconnections

have6dBmoregain than single-ended connectionsWhen.level matchingis crit- ical, keepthis specificationin mind.

WARNING

Useonlyoneset of inputsto the amplifierat a time. TheKAV-150aamplifier is shipped with shorting pins in the XLRinputs. These pins shouldremainin the XLRinputs if the KAV-150aamplifier is operatingin the sin- gle-endedmode.Whenthe shorting pin is inserted, pins 1 and3 are shortedtogether. Theshorting pins mustbe removedto con- nect the KAV-150aamplifier for balanced operation.

The XLR pin configuration is described below:
