There are 3 options for powering the Q U ES T e m pº 36: a 9-volt alkaline battery, a NiMH
(Nickel Metal Hydride) recharge ab le 6-cell battery pack, and an AC adapter. A door
on the back of the unit allows the user access to the 9-volt battery. The rechargeable
battery pack is located inside o f t h e un it. If the rechargeable battery pa ck ev er ne eds
to be replaced, it can be accessed by removing th e scr ews fro m the bo tto m pan el of
the unit.
The 2-position switch located in the ba tt ery
compartment must be set by the u s er if the power
supply method is changed. The up position is for the
9-volt battery. The down position allow s for eith er th e
AC adapter or the rechargeable batteries. The AC
adapter will trickle charge the rechargeable batteries if
they are in place or it will sim ply allow for line power
operation of the unit.

9-Volt Alkaline Battery Replacement
The 9-volt battery sho uld be rep lace d or the NiM H batt ery pac k shou ld b e rech arged
when the voltage drops below 6 .4 volts. The battery voltage is disp l ay ed when the
instrument is turned on. While turned on, the battery voltage can be displayed at any
time by pressing the up or down arrow keys to move throug h t he dis play unt il th e
battery voltage screen appears. If, whil e oper at ing, t he ba tter y v oltag e dr ops be low
6.4 volts, the display will aut om at ic ally switch to the display showing th e battery voltage
along with a low battery message. After a low battery occurs, the unit will continue to
operate for approximately 8 hou r s. When the battery voltage falls to 6. 2 v olts or below,
the unit will automatically turn off.
Replace only with an approved 9-volt alkaline battery.
