Installing the Mylex Disk Array Controller as the Primary Controller

Type mdac and press <Enter>.

4.The system then displays standard UNIX messages, such as loading Kernel fd(64) UNIX.text, UNIX.data, UNIX.bss, etc.

The system will then provide the following message prompt:

Please insert the fd(60)mdac volume and press <Return>

or 'q' to quit

5.Insert the Software Kit SCO OpenServer Driver diskette into the primary floppy drive and press <Enter>:

When installing SCO OpenServer 5.0.x, you will be asked if you would like to try a replacement of the existing mdac package. Type ‘r’ for try replacement.

6.Follow the standard SCO UNIX installation procedure until you see the following message:

Please insert (mdac) package BTLD disk into the floppy drive so that it can be extracted onto the hard disk for incorporation into the link-kit.

This is where the driver package diskette is inserted a second time.

7.Insert the Software Kit SCO OpenServer Driver diskette and press <Enter>. The system will respond with the following message:

Extracting BTLD distribution for mdac...

8.From this point forward, follow the standard procedure for SCO UNIX installation. Make sure the entire Extended Utilities of SCO UNIX are installed. Near the end of the installation, the following description is displayed:

The following packages are on this disk:

NAME DESCRIPTION

mdac

<Mylex Controller Description>

Please enter the names of the packages you wish to install, or 'q' to quit
