Adding System Drives

The recommended method for creating UNIX file systems on System Drives is through the SCO UNIX mkdev hd command. Follow the instructions in the SCO UNIX documentation for adding a hard disk.

Mylex Disk Array Controllers are mapped differently under SCO UNIX than under the Mylex Disk Array Controller Configuration Utility. It is necessary to use the target ID and the LUN number to identify each system drive being created for SCO UNIX.

The following table shows the relationships of SCO UNIX target IDs and LUNs to System Drive numbers as defined under the Mylex Disk Array Controller Configuration Utility. For example, for System Drive number 20, enter 4 for the target ID and 3 as the LUN (shaded areas in Table 5-1).
