ADC’s Quad Loop Extender (QLX) 3192 shelf adapter is an adapter board that allows for an ADC Soneplex QLX module to be plugged into an industry-standard 3192 office repeater shelf. The QLX 3192 shelf adapter also supports an optional ADC System Controller Unit (SCU) for system management and craft port access. Using the QLX 3192 shelf adapter, an existing copper-based T1 repeater shelf can be converted into a fiber optic transport platform, enabling simple, cost-effective transition of a legacy network from copper to fiber without the need for expensive shelf upgrades, additional wiring or installation costs.
The QLX module converts four multiplexed DS1 signals into an optical DS2 for delivery over single-mode optical fibers. The optical DS2 is converted back to four DS1s at the customer premises. The QLX module utilizes two fibers and is available with either an FC or SC type connector. The SCU provides optional system management and craft port access. Together, the QLX 3192 shelf adapter, QLX module, and SCU module comprise a circuit pack occupying four slots in the standard 3192 chassis. Up to seven circuit packs can be used in the 3192 shelf supporting up to 28 DS1s per shelf. This solution is ideal for cellular backhaul applications or tenant services within business parks or shopping centers.
Benefits
•Convert legacy 3192 office repeater housing/shelves into a cost-effective fiber optic transport platform
•Capitalize on your investment of existing 3192 shelves and wiring by simply replacing copper transport cards with QLX circuit packs for fiber transport
•Easy to use system management allows configuration, remote provisioning and circuit visibility that simplifies network management
