»Fiber co nnectivity is ideal for net works that demand
high bandwidth over long distances. T he 8100S
Series fiber modules support Gi gabit and 100Mbps
up to a distance of 2 kilometers over multi-mo de
fiber, and up to 80 kilometers over single-mode fib er.
Fiber is able to transport data over lo ng distances
without the type of degradation that you see with
copper, allowing high scalable and flexible network
design for big business campuses, educational
campus and large retails stores.
Stable in harsh environment
»Fibers c omplete immunity to electrical int erference
makes it resistant to cross talk bet ween signals
among different cables and environmental noise,
such as radio waves and electric signals. Thi s makes
the 8100S Series ideal for high voltage env ironments
and in places with high EMI (Ele ctromagnetic
Interference), such as alo ngside utility lines, conveyor
belts, power lines, and railroad tracks.
The 8100S Series consists of 16 100FX
(SC and LC) MMF ports and 24 100 FX
(LC) MMF ports sw itch models. The
16-port models come wi th 16 100FX
plus 8 10/100TX ports. All 8100S Ser ies
switches offer two Gig abit combo
10/100/1000T-SFP uplink ports plus
two dedicated stacking connectors
that deliver a total of 10Gbps s tack
bandwidth. The s tackable Ethernet
series offers ber con nectivity suitab le
for a network that requ ires high security
and long distance connec tivity.
Redundant Power Options
All variants of the 8100S ber s witch
family feature two inter nal power
supplies as standar d, allowing the
switches to be powered fr om two
separate building feeds ma king the
8100S Series less susceptible to build ing
power failures and ensuri ng continuous
switch operation.
Stacking
The physical stacking capability
integrated into this plat form is designed
to offer simplied manageme nt for
higher port densi ty applications. Up to
three stackab le switches of the 8100S
copper and ber series ca n be mixed
and stacked together to a m aximum of
78 ports.
