7.3.2 Macintosh®
First, close all programs that are using files from your Gmini. Drag the Gmini hard drive icon towards the trash can, and
the trash can will become a big arrow as shown in the screen image. (Mac OS 9.x will still retain the trashcan icon. This
is OK, don’t worry.) Drop the hard drive icon onto the arrow (or trash can). The hard disk icon will disappear from the
desktop. You can now safely unplug the USB cable from your Gmini and/or your computer.
7.4 Creating Music files from your Audio CDs
The files that are on commercial CDs are in CDA (compact disk audio) format and cannot be played directly by the Gmini. Y our CDs must be
converted to WMA format (use Windows Media Player), MP3 format (use MusicMatch™ Jukebox), or a plain .WAV file (PCM). If you don’t have
either of these applications, you can ins tall these on your computer from the Gmini. Connect your Gmini to your computer and run the program
setup.exe found in Jukebox:\Data\PC Installation. You can install the program of your choice.
7.5 Internet Music files and your Gmini XS
Attention: Before subscribing to a paid music servic e, be careful to read the information on the music download web site to be sure that the file
format is supported by the Gmini XS (MP3, WMA, or WAV). Many, or perhaps most, websites use special encryption systems (Digital Rights
Management DRM) to protect music from being copied and freely distributed. The Gmini XS can play only non-encrypted files.
7.6 Update ARCLibrary after each PC Transfer
Attention: Each time you transfer music from a computer to your Gmini XS, you will need to manually update your ARCLibrary contents. Go to
Setup > Playmode > Update ARCLibrary. Your newly transferred files will be indexed into the ARCLibrary. Files that are not in the folder
Music will not be included in the ARCLibrary.
