General Modifications

Cut outs for electrical outlets/boxes:

1.Mark the intended location of each panel on the wall.

2.Carefully measure the exact location and size of the cut-out in the panel. An uninstalled identical unit may be used as a template for the cut-out.

3.Remove ONLY the fiberglass using a sharp knife making sure not to cut through the fabric on the other side.

4.Cut an X in the fabric directly over the cut-out.

5.Reapply the fabric to the fiberglass using a very light application of Auralex’s Foamtak spray adhesive.

6.Cover opening with desired face plate.

Edge Cutting:

1.Lay the panel down with the fabric face up. Pull the fabric off the panel at least two inches past the intended cut line. Mark the fiberglass core at the cut line (make sure to deduct for fabric thickness).

2.Using a straight edge, cut through the fiberglass core on the cut line with a sharp utility knife or table saw.

3.Cut the extra fabric so there is a two inch overhang on the back of the panel.

4.Spray Auralex Foamtak on the exposed face and edge of the panel. Apply the adhesive in a thin even coat across desired area. Let the adhesive set for at least 15 seconds before pulling fabric back over. Permanent discoloring of the fabric will occur if too much adhesive is used or not enough drying time is given.

5.Pull the fabric back over the panel, carefully checking by hand to make sure it is straight and without air pockets or creases.

6.Turn the panel face down on a clean surface and apply Foamtak spray adhesive in a 2” band where the fabric overhangs.

7.Trim the back and corners of excess fabric, but leave just enough to cover all fiberglass.

NOTE: Auralex is not responsible for damage done to any panel during general modifications.

Panels specifications

Auralex Acoustics is a leading manufacturer of soundproofing and acoustic treatment products, recognized for their innovative design and high-quality materials. Their acoustic panels are specifically engineered to improve sound quality in various environments, including recording studios, home theaters, and office spaces.

One of the main features of Auralex Acoustics panels is their ability to reduce sound reflections and echoes. These panels are made of high-density fiberglass or foam, which effectively absorb sound waves rather than allowing them to bounce off hard surfaces. This absorption helps create a more controlled acoustic environment, ideal for capturing clear audio and enhancing listening experiences.

Auralex employs advanced technologies in the design of their panels. For instance, their StudiofoamĀ® panels are crafted using proprietary formulations that offer excellent performance across a broad range of frequencies. This versatility makes them suitable for a variety of applications, from music production to cinematic sound design. The panels come in various thicknesses, which allows users to customize their installations based on specific acoustic needs.

In addition to their functional benefits, Auralex Acoustics panels are designed with aesthetics in mind. They are available in multiple colors and styles, allowing users to choose options that complement their decor. This feature is particularly important for professionals who work in environments where the visual appeal of a space is as vital as its acoustic properties.

Another significant characteristic of Auralex panels is their lightweight and easy-to-install nature. Most panels can be mounted using adhesive, making the installation process simple and accessible. This feature not only aids in time-efficient setups but also allows individuals without specialized skills to achieve professional-quality acoustic treatment.

Durability is another key aspect of Auralex products. The materials used are designed to withstand wear and tear while maintaining their effectiveness over time. This long-lasting quality ensures that users receive consistent performance without the need for frequent replacements.

In summary, Auralex Acoustics panels are an excellent investment for anyone seeking to improve sound quality in their space. With features like sound absorption, aesthetic versatility, lightweight installation, and durability, these panels address both practical and visual considerations of acoustic management. Whether for professional studios or personal projects, Auralex offers solutions that enhance the auditory experience.
